After a three week stay on the Lynher/Tamar estuary Tore, the Loch Garten bred Osprey, continued her southward journey on the 18th September. She was at Wacker at 8am, headed over Millbrook and Maker around 9am and crossed the Channel into northern France, coming ashore near Saint Brienc, west of St Malo. She continued SE during the day and roosted near Nantes. On the 19th she continued  to the Gironde estuary near Bordeaux before changing to a SW bearing, cutting across the Bay of Biscay.  On the 20th she in northern Spain near Valladolid. Tony Jones took some photos of Tore at Wacker Quay which are reproduced here. In some you can clearly see the ariel of the satilitte transmitter and the ring, and in others a fish – mullet or bass? Any fishy people out there identify it? Well done Tony, a nice collection. Good luck Tore, safe passage!

Lovely to be able to ‘see’ Tore as she had a spot of R&R and learned how to fish before she started the epic part of her first migration. Thank you.

    Hello Tamar Wildlife.
Thank you so much for sharing these lovely photos of Tore; and for writing about her on this blog. The photos are excellent, and show what a lovely bird she has matured into. It’s obvious that she had learnt to fish, but lovely to have it confirmed!
    Thank you
    Daisy Ray

It was great news that she had been fishing for herself and a lot of people will be relieved about that!
